Find out more about me.
If you or your loved one are seeking information and advice on Continuing Healthcare (CHC), I am here to assist you. As a Registered General Nurse with decades of experience in navigating the CHC process, I offer free initial consultations for individuals and their families as they navigate assessments, reviews, and appeals. No matter your circumstances, I am dedicated to helping you secure the necessary support.
At Jane's Healthcare, you will be working with a Continuing Healthcare Nurse who has over twenty-five years of experience in CHC and Case Management, along with a robust background in the NHS, having worked for various Integrated Care Boards and held senior positions. Based in Abbey Wood, I am trusted throughout South East London, and work across the South East.
Let me share a bit about my journey and experience in Continuing Healthcare. I have been a Registered General Nurse since 1995, gaining invaluable experience within NHS settings, including NHS hospitals and Integrated Care Boards. My previous roles span from Safeguard Lead Co-Ordinator to Operational Management Lead, as well as Neurosurgical, Neurology, and Orthopaedic Surgery Nursing.
I have served as an Advisor for both Deprivation of Liberty Case Management and Mental Capacity Lead. Additionally, I have worked as a Clinical Lead Nurse for Continuing Healthcare within the North Central London Integrated Care Board. My expertise encompasses undifferentiated assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for adults and children transitioning to adulthood, as well as case management, disease management, medicines management, and safeguarding. I also have experience in remote clinical assessment and triage work, making me exceptionally well-equipped to assist you.
At Jane's Healthcare, I offer a range of services designed to support you through the complexities of Continuing Healthcare:
Providing guidance and resources to help you understand the CHC process.
Specialist consultations to navigate the complexities of your case.
My Checklist Advocacy Service supports you through the Continuing Healthcare screening process, which is the first stage of assessment.
For individuals assessed as ‘not eligible' for NHS Continuing Healthcare, I offer expert advice and support.
For those already eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, my Review Services ensure you are supported through the review process.
If you have been assessed as not eligible, I will manage the appeal process on your behalf.
For formal complaints related to Continuing Healthcare matters that cannot be addressed through the appeals process.
I complete COP3 reports as an experienced mental capacity assessor.
I liaise with claimants to assess their claims based on the evidence provided to health insurers.
A Jane's Healthcare paid representative, also known as a Relevant Person's Paid Representative (RPPR) or a 39C IMCA, is appointed to support and represent individuals who are deprived of their liberty under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and who may lack the capacity to make decisions about their care or treatment. Their role is to ensure the individual's rights are protected and that they are receiving appropriate care and support.
Maintain Contact: Regularly visit and communicate with the person to understand their views and wishes.
Explain Rights: Help the person understand their rights under DoLS and how the authorisation affects them.
Ensure Conditions are Met: Could you monitor the care setting to make sure it follows the conditions of the DoLS authorisation?
Challenge Decisions: IIf necessary, challenge decisions about the person's care or treatment or request a review of the authorisation.
Access Court: If required, support the person in applying to the Court of Protection.
Advocate: Represent the person's views and wishes, particularly when they cannot express themselves.
Support Participation: Assist the person in care reviews and assessments related to the DoLS.
Essentially, a paid representative acts as the person's voice and advocate, ensuring their rights are upheld throughout the DoLS process.
For their services, RPPRs charge local authorities and/or health boards (Supervisory Bodies) £30 per hour when no contract is in place. For those interested in contractual work, a price will be provided upon request. This ensures transparency in the cost of advocacy services while providing essential support to those who need it most.
If you or someone you know may require the services of a Relevant Person's Paid Representative, please feel free to reach out to discuss how I can assist you through this process.
